Night Time City Photography Explained
City photography, especially at night, can produce some of the most rewarding photos in your portfolio. Getting things right is not as difficult as you might think and my keywords for a successful shoot are ‘Preparation’, ‘Experimentation’ and ‘Awareness’. With a huge mixture of lighting, textures, shapes and locations which are usually found in close proximity of each other, it is highly likely that you can capture a huge array of differing shots from one shoot if you pick your location wisely.

I have very recently taken receipt of a Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens from OneStop Digital. After looking through a number of different reviews for different lenses of various shapes, makes and sizes, I decided on a true Marco lens to widen my options regarding my photography kit.
What Makes A Great Photograph
There are loads of articles on the internet entitled ‘What Makes a great photograph’, most of these simply run over the main elements in photography such as light, colour and composition but don’t actually explain how to put these elements together so that you know how to capture a great image PRIOR to actually taking it.
An Unlikely Subject
On days where it is difficult to get out an about on a photography shoot (like today!) I often look about the house for interesting articles to capture (mostly thinking about macro photos). One thing which I have never thought to capture in a photo was the very equipment that I use in photography and always have with me, my collection of lenses. Perfect for macro photography as they are precisely and perfectly manufactured so that they are pretty much free form blemishes.
Photoshoot From Start To Finish (My Way)
There are literally thousands on photography tutorials on the internet (including mine) that explain the different elements that ultimately make up a photoshoot (resulting in your photos). I have read ALOT of them and most are very useful however, I probably only use about 25% of the stuff that I have learned from tutorials in practical every day shoots.

With the growing trend within the photography world to use your iPhone camera to capture more and more images and the gadgets and apps that you can acquire to aid in the post processing on the go, there are some really great resources being created on the web to assist in this genre of our art as well as on line groups and galleries…
Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 Review
My Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 is another lens that I have owned for some time, in fact, I purchased this at the same time as I got my current Canon 50D. I opted to go for the camera body and this lens over the normal camera/stock lens’ package as I had read many great reviews of the lens online.
