Portrait Photography Explained

Portrait photography doesn’t need to be expensive, requiring a studio and all the kit you can carry. Take a look through Flickr, PhotoBucket and the like and there are thousands of superb portrait shots using natural light, backgrounds and poses. Remembering a few rules will stand you in good stead of capturing great images portraying emotion beauty and composition.

Had a few issues with FPR lately (as you might have noticed). This has meant that I have not posted anything for a while so here is a lttle something while I spend long tedious hours changing various URL’s and check links!!

Er….Weed Photography

Tried out some macro photography tonight on the weeds in my garden. I used a Canon 430EX MK11 external flash and wireless Phottix triggers for light and to remove the background, came out OK I think……….;0)

Photographing Water Droplets – First Experiment of 2011

Thought I would try my hand at some water droplet photography today (bit bored and slightly hung over!!). It is a simple set up of a bowl of clean water, a couple of different food colouring bottles, an external flash and wireless trigger. I had a bit of trouble with the focusing and so will try again when the light is better and I have more time!

My Guide To Self Portrait Photography

A lot of my photos are self portraits, usually this is due to the fact that the location I have gone to for some landscape shots is not as good as I thought it would be. I enjoy the challenge of creating new, interesting portraits that either tell a story or are from a different perspective than the norm. In this ‘tutorial’ I will explain my thought process and what elements I consider when taking a self portrait.
