
Infrared photography (filters etc) cause foliage to strongly reflect light in the same way visible light is reflected from snow.
Other effects of infrared photographs include very dark skies and penetration of atmospheric haze. The dark skies, in turn, result in less infrared light in shadows and dark reflections of those skies from water, and clouds stand out strongly.
These wavelengths also penetrate a few millimeters into skin and give a milky look to portraits, although eyes often look black.
IR filters can be purchased all over the web (take a look on eBay). The quality of the filter depends on how much you are willing to pay, I bought one off of eBay for about £15 and it’s a bit rubbish….
