Taking a meter reading of the light that is in your shot can be the difference between an under/over exposed shot and one which is just right. Aperture Explained
What Is Aperture?
The main purpose of a lens is to collect the available light. The aperture of the lens is the size of the lens opening. The larger the aperture, the more light allowed to reach the image sensor.
Aperture is expressed as F-stop, F2.8 is the smaller the F-stop number, the larger the aperture.
Infrared Photography Explained
Infrared photography (filters etc) cause foliage to strongly reflect light in the same way visible light is reflected from snow.
Other effects of infrared photographs include very dark skies and penetration of atmospheric haze. The dark skies, in turn, result in less infrared light in shadows and dark reflections of those skies from water, and clouds stand out strongly.
