10 stop filters enable a photographer to almost slow down time. Allowing the shutter speed to be increased to unnatural lengths of time (minutes rather than seconds) enables scenes to be transformed in many ways. From turning a rough seascape into a serene, perfectly flat sheet of water, to 'smearing' clouds across the sky.

Now, before I begin this post, I have a confession. When Google+ first burst onto the social media scene I wasn't impressed, I joined, but I wasn't impressed. Up until about a month ago my involvement on the site had been posting FPR articles to my profile. I was wrong about the site, it's GREAT, in the short time I have been interacting with others and actually looking through the content and photos posted I have found great tutorials, had great discussions and seen some truly awesome photography

There's something about the simplicity of rocks against an ocean that draw the eye. On a trip to Thailand last year I took the below image on a day tour. I liked the duel tones of the rocks and the calm sea backdrop.

I gave up smoking real cigarettes two weeks ago and swapped to e-cigarettes. As well as having no tar, not tobacco and all the other nasty things that kill you in them, they also cost a lot less and I haven't wanted a real cigarette since quitting. To celebrate the fact that I can smell and taste again I shot the below self portrait :)
