Depth of field can be used to give a photo an almost 3D effect and when executed well brings the photo to life. Depth of field is controlled by the aperture (F-Stop) being used.
Hellingly Asylum – Chillingly Great Photography
Hellingly Asylum opened in 1903 on the South West coast of Britain. Designed by G.T Hine. An onsite railway station and tramway provided Hellingly supplies. Hellingly was closed down in 1994.
Although these photos are obviously not to everyone’s taste, they do capture the imagination and go some way to show the rooms and corridors once home to many mentally ill and insane people. The shadows and light also captured in the images is also very atmospheric!
